Excellent Boston Globe series shows what it’s like to live with mental illness

The Boston Globe has just published a three-part series on how one man deals with his mental illness, and being a part of a system that often doesn’t provide help, even when it’s wanted. I cried when I read this, not only for this man, but for his family. His mother, his aunt, and his girlfriend doing whatever they can to help him. But there are times when even that is not enough.

This story will probably be familiar to anyone who has a mental illness. But I especially hope that it will be read by people who do not have mental illness. Maybe, they will think twice before they say things like, “you don’t try hard enough.” This man and his loved ones are trying as hard as anyone can be expected. The good news is that they are not giving up.
